You all know who I’m talking about. Parents, the people who raised you from birth, changed your diapers combed your hair? If their biological, adoptive, or step-parents they have their not-so-glorious moments. Like, I know for a fact that everytime a friend is over or we go out my mom obnoxiously makes a fool out of herself so i get embarrassed. All I keep thinking is, “MOM I DON’T CARE IF YOUR OLD AND DONT HAVE A REPUTATION AROUND THESE PEOPLE; BUT I DO SO WILL YOU STOP?!?!” and I dont mean to sound all rude, but it’s the truth. But aside from being embarrassing parents have a tendency to think they are smarter, better, and more godly then their kids. I mean hello no matter how many times you say, “Because i said so,” or “because I’m the parent,” is not a logical answer to the question why can’t I go to the party on Friday when we have nothing planned.
And, oh, dont even get me started on forgetful fathers. I understand you can’t stand to be in the same room with the woman you once loved but please, for me, just go to a chorus concert every once in a while. (I must admit my Father is getting better at the whole ‘atend daughters important events thing) And “Because i thought it was a closed event” or your mom didnt email me the dates” is not an excuse when i know for a fact it was ME who sent you the email with all the dates. I even told you on the phone.
I love my parents (sometimes) and they’re great but really sometimes they need to slow down and do whats best for the family and the youth.
